2012 Summary

Took me a few dozen tries but I finally feel comfortable with using a tablet.

I had a great year! I have been drawing ever since I was a little kid, although if you go back and look at the stick figure comics I did at 12 years old, they are probably not all that legible. And I'm probably not going to post the comics I did at 18, trying to get them published in the Diamondback, because they're really dang corny.

It's only two years ago, when I changed my major and transferred to Towson, that I started seeing art as a skill to practice and intentionally develop rather than a hobby.

Teenage me thought that studying art would take the fun out of it. But really, the more you learn, the more you understand, and the more you practice, the more enjoyable it becomes.
Once you learn the basic rules, you continue practicing to deepen your understanding of the fundamentals.
It doesn’t get any less challenging, but art isn't like math where the point of learning the fundamentals is to move on to study stranger and more esoteric stuff. (Differential equations - yikes!)
